hall of mirrors

Its been a long time since Gym and I have spent time together. You know how it goes, life happens. We have the best intentions to stay in touch and then suddenly, we’ve become strangers.

I used to visit at least twice a week. Lately, our relationship has consisted of waves as I drive by. I’ve even stopped the monthly checks. I know, that’s not much of a relationship. I can see the effects of our relationship crumbles in the mirror each morning. A sag here, a fluff there…it’s just not healthy.

Then I look at my sister. She has a very healthy relationship with not only Gym, but with bike, and run, and many other physical type things. She looks great and all that, but she’s always hurt! Pulled muscles, sore ankles, twisted this or that… To me, it seems like an abusive relationship. Maybe she is addicted. They say women get addicted to stuff like that. Not me, I get addicted to Coconut Chocolate ice cream. We keep our relationship cool and sparse, only meeting up one or two nights a week.

So far, it seems to be working out. I have enough of a reminder left at my place to make me comfortable being away, but it’s good enough when we’re together to make me want more. And nothing gets twisted. Heck, I don’t even break a sweat!

You gotta do what makes you happy. That being said, I think I’m going to start seeing a new Gym. I’m looking for the thrill of something new. New schedules, routines, drinking fountains….and maybe a little less fluff.

Cause I said so.
