I learn something everyday. Even while I am on vacation apparently. It’s true, I am at a convention to learn lots of new tips and techniques to make my Stampin’ Up! business grow and flourish, but that isn’t all I have learned.
Here are some of the highlights, off the beaten track.
*Salt Lake may not be as hot as Phoenix, but I can still work up a good sweat walking four miles at noon.
*Even though a man is standing next to a taxi, wearing ‘taxi garb’, outside a convention center…there are no guarantees that he can drive the taxi. I heard this straight from the ‘cabbies’ mouth in his ‘charming’ accent. “There is someone in there. I cannot drive you.” I didn’t see anyone in the taxi….perhaps they were lying on the back seat? Or…possibly in the trunk? The mystery remains, and another taxi got my money.
*The SpringHill Marriot is not a “Full service hotel.” This is an exact quote from the front desk. Unless you are wondering what a ‘full service hotel is’, I cannot tell you. All I can tell you is that our hotel does not shop for us, take us where we want to go WHEN we want to go there, have room service, or allow GUM on the premises. In spite of the irritation the above mentioned this have caused, the hotel has become the butt our all our jokes for the week. Whenever we are frustrated at ANYTHING, we simply assume whatever we are dealing with just isn’t ‘full service.’ This includes pretty much everything. It has made our week fabulous.
*Speaking of ‘fabulous’, Fabio has been located. Although our hotel is not ‘full service,’ they do seem to have the hispanic doppleganger of Fabio delivering towels to rooms in the middle of the night. This is not a complaint. 🙂
*When shopping in SLC, time actually slows down. I’m not sure how the city has done it, but I got to the HUGE new mall 30 minutes before it closed and was able to make it to four different stores (walking) and spend over $100 with time to spare. AND the stores were NOT close to each other. And yes, I did try on clothes. Just think of the damage I could do with a whole day……
*Fish tacos are sick with corn tortillas. I thought to ask the waitress if the fish was breaded, but forgot to ask about the tortillas. The good news is I didn’t overeat at dinner. The bad news is I wish I had gotten a strawberry daiquiri. (virgin?)
*There are many more words of wisdom I could share but I have fallen asleep at the keyboard twice so I am going to tie it up with this: Even if I think I won’t swim on a trip I should bring my swim suit. After all the walking and sitting I have done the last few days, the hot tub would be wonderful. I’m sure the kids that are in the pool tonight would not enjoy seeing me in my birthday suit. I’d have to call Fabio for a towel….cause I said so.
